One of the lessons I used to instill in my students, or at least talked about out loud in class, was the idea of situational awareness. What am I shooting, where should I be? What are the potential hazards?
Planning matters. Once your eye goes up behind the lens you are now working, and you hope all the planning beforehand pays off. And often, things don’t go quite like you envisioned.
Such was the case for a photographer photographing the ceremonial first pitch. Darren Georgia got his spot, checked his gear, framed the image, and proceeded to get a face full of baseball.
Let’s hope he got the shot.
